This weblog is dedicated to the Goddess and to saving the planet -- by gently replacing God the Father with God the Mother by the year 2035. Too simplistic? Nope, I don't think so. Female deities are role models for unconditional love. Violent sky/war gods are dangerous, to men as well as women. People are biologically programmed to need religion of one kind or another. (BTW, "thea"=Goddess, "theo"=god)

Where'd JESUS Get all Those HATS?!?
Statue of Jesus
o He was called "King of Kings"; so was Dionysus -- long before him.
o He was called "Lamb of God"; so was Mot-Aleyin -- long before him.
o He was called "Light of the World"; so was Mithra -- long before him.
o He was called "The Good Shepherd"; so was Osiris -- long before him.
o He was called "Son of Man"; so was Vishnu -- long before him.
o He was called "Messiah"; so was Mithra -- well before him.
I could go on. Jesus was simply a stab at shifting the Great Mother's love into a male body. See Walker's abundantly documented The Women's Encyclopedia for more.

My favorite is the bumper sticker that says "Jesus is the bringer of light". I always want to pull the driver over and ask him if he knows that the Roman name that means Bringer of Light is Lucifer.
Also wanted to add that Odin was crucified (on a tree), and the cross originates with him and is derived from Thor's Hammer. This was, of course, long before him.
Yeah, Barbara Walker says Lucifer, aka the "Light-Bringer," was the Roman Morning-Star god who announced the daily birth of the sun. Sometimes ya gotta wonder -- did Yahweh come up with ANYTHING original?
