TO Anti-War & CLIMATE-CHANGE ACTIVISTS

A friend of mine named Duff said she’s having trouble flagging you down on something big.

Right now most of the world has been bamboozled into following religions that are going to wipe us off the face of the planet – you included. Maybe you personally don’t think you need religion, and that's fine. But anthropologists know that the majority of the world does, always has, and probably always will.

And if you don’t help the world see their religions are lethal – and help throw them some healthy religions as substitutes -- then nothing else you do will ever matter. Nothing you can do will ever cap religion. Darlings, you might as well spit in the wind.

Actually, we all have “religion.” There’s no choice in that. The only choice is which religion you’ll follow: Yahweh, Allah, Jehovah or Vishnu, the way over half the world does now? One of the Eastern religions? All the mainstream Eastern religions I know also pump up war, violence, and a one-sided male-over-female mentality – even Buddhism. Or is your religion money? Or science?

We all have answers to the big questions -- Where did I come from; What’s the purpose of life; Where do I go after I die. How you answer is your religion. Maybe without knowing it, Science is your god. The purpose of life, says the God Science, is to study it. And since it stands in the way of accurately studying things, the Big Sin is emotion. The supernatural, says The God Science, is for fools. The God Science says humans came from 32c worth of chemicals, period. End of sentence.

Can you see how such a god, if left free to romp around the sandbox, might lead to the invention of WMD? If the point of life is to scrutinize the universe, and fear and love are abominations, then study has total free reign -- no matter where it leads.

Of all the hundreds of world cultures anthropologists have studied, every single one has had religion – and religion based on the supra-natural. When anthropologists find such “universals” they know they’re on to something big, something fundamental to human functioning (other universals include the incest taboo, gender roles, myth, language, art, cooking, games, moral standards, and a few more.).

A solution to the war gods is a Guiding Mother Goddess. We are what we worship. If people worship a mother goddess, they’ll treat others the way a healthy mother treats her children: with unconditional love and regard. Instead of punishing, they’ll teach. Instead of bumping everyone into piles called good, better and best, they’ll see everyone as equally valuable.

If you have a negative reaction to the idea of a Mother Goddess, consider this: the Abrahamaic religions have spent 2000 years making damn sure you do. They knew the greatest threat to their existence were the Mother Goddesses, and they used every trick in the book – most hitting below the belt – to con humanity into having just the reaction you’re having now.

But even the Inquisitors couldn’t scrub out the notion of Mother Earth, Gaia, the ancient Goddess Gaia. Not only has the world shrunk to a village, it’s shrunk to a village speaking a hundred different languages – almost all of them sick war-god languages. To survive now, we need one mutually intelligible language. I propose it be a language of love -- the language of our common Mother, the Great Mother Goddess, Gaia.

Hi hon, my first visit to your blog so it will take me a while to get a sense of it. But I like what I see at first glance.

"This weblog is dedicated to THE GODDESS and to SAVING THE PLANET -- by gently replacing God the Father with God the Mother by the year 2025. Too simplistic?"

Well, you can't get to simple. But you do have to get the rest of the world on your side and that is very difficult these days with almost seven billion people on this planet now.

And most of them brainwashed at that.

I'm at a loss for words right now. It's been a long day and I'm tired, hope to follow up later. Hugs.

You got that right, me included. Spent most of my life saying it was all bullshit. Bibles and organized religions insulted some inner soul. Until starting on my strange spiritual journey and un-brainwashing myself. Starting to see what we really are. God/Goddess in evolution.

Maybe you personally don’t think you need religion, and that's fine. But anthropologists know that the majority of the world does, always has, and probably always will.

I think that what we need at this time in space as we hurtle through the cosmos is not religion, but a spirituality, a common one. That could evolve into a religion I refer to as the Fellowship of God/Goddess. If that could happen world wide then there would only be one religion and everyone would get along better.

And if you don’t help the world see their religions are lethal – and help throw them some healthy religions as substitutes -- then nothing else you do will ever matter. Nothing you can do will ever cap religion. Darlings, you might as well spit in the wind.

I’m trying, I’m trying. In my own way of course.

I guess you could say that science comes closest to what you suggested, God is after all scientist learning more about him and Goddess each day. I don’t think that I’m one sided about the male-female thing, but you have to admit, there is a lot of messed up females on this planet. And no matter how you look at it, they both still need to perform their proper roles to keep things running smoothly.

We all have answers to the big questions -- Where did I come from;

My mommy… :-)…. Oh, you mean before that, billions of years ago. Well, from my mommy, but at the time, in the beginning, she wasn’t nothing but a nano particle. Because by some miracle, under the great pressure of nothing but empty space she split into two particles, then there was her and I. Only in the split there was a genetic change, I was different, at this point we took on the role of female-male. At that precise time we took on the instructions of survive and procreate. So I sexed her, that’s right, I sexed my mother, okay, cosmic sex is hard for a human mind to grasp, but that is what happened. Not long after that the ‘big bang’, and here we are today. And still creating way out there where our human parts are not able to see yet. And a part of those two original nano particles are in us, each and everyone of us. I tried to keep this short, hope that you can follow it.

Can you see how such a god, if left free to romp around the sandbox, might lead to the invention of WMD?

That God is an idiot and a fool. And so are his followers.

A solution to the war gods is a Guiding Mother Goddess.

I wish she would show up here, I was sure I would find her here, but I haven’t.

To survive now, we need one mutually intelligible language.

Amen…. Although in a different way than you suggest, we only need one language worldwide so that we can all communicate better with each other. Good post, thanks for doing it, hugs.

The Da Vinci Code.... Interesting book. The part that most interested me was the love making scene where they were looking into each others eyes. Now that is spiritual, sharing each others spirits that way.

That is what I have been looking for, but not finding with the monkeys around here.

An excellent post. I agree wholeheartedly that both war and the threat to the enviroment are completely intertwined with partiarchy. The patriarchy teaches that God gave man the authority to rule over nature and it's resources, so man fights for control of the best resources so he can exploit them, gain more wealth in the process, which gives him more power which makes him want more resources to turninto more wealth...

Hum, that was an interesting comment by amy farmer. The word 'patriarchy' bothers me a bit though. Plenty of women are more than willing to destroy the planet while they shop.

Some of them even think that they are ecologists. Very interesting.

I did just look at her site. She is too far out there for her own good, and I didn't see a way to leave a comment. It's okay, I need not visit her again.

Maybe you are being too hard on the eastern religions, just found out about the Sam-shin-halmoni ("three spirits grandmother", a three fold goddess who protects babies in Korea.
a recently built shrine to her can be seen here:
http://www.san-shin.org/Zo-14.html

a statue of the Sam-shin-halmoni can be seen here:

http://www.san-shin.net/Jiri-Seongmo-1.html
This statue was rescued by buddhists after Christian fanatics threw it off a cliff.

BBC, welcome to RGT. I'm curious. If you found Her here, what do you think the Guiding Mother Goddess look like ?

Amy, I think the key that links war and a foul attitude toward the environment is fear -- fear of never having enough. A fear that goes back into antiquity to times when certain of our ancestors went through periods of long-term starvation. This lead to stealing, violence and war as standard, accepted aspects of life. At the same time it lead to a loss of confidence in and reverence for the Earth as sustainer and provider. I've written about this several times on this blog under the heading "starvation culture."

Very interesting sites, Pignut. My quarrel with the East has to do mainly with their mainstream and state religions -- Buddhism and Hinduism for example. Some and maybe even most of the indigenous religions are probably full of wonderful things -- like the Holy-Mother Mountain 'Spirit' in the websites you pointed us to. My copy of the Oxford Companion to World Mythology 2005 says that the indigenous religion of Korea contained several mountain gods and an earth god. "At the center of the religious rituals were women called mudang, who communicated with dieties and ancestors and ... ' foretold the future.

Did you know that in the book he wrote BEFORE he ran for the Vice Presidency, (maybe before he even knew he was gonna be on the ticket)Al Gore used as a source, Riane Eisler's The Chalice and the Blade? There is a wise man who has seen the connection for some time!
