DOING battle WITH A LIGHT BULB

QUESTION:  How many climate-change deniers does it take to change a light bulb?

ANSWER: Six; one to hold the bulb, and five to twist the ladder.

Both NASA* and NOAA** state that climate change is real, human-caused, and potentially deadly.  And yet some sloopy heads still insist it's none of the above.

PS: Many CC deniers are looney-tunes for the war god Jehovah, whose arch rival is a dude named "Satan."  CC deniers seem to think they're in this war, with Satan and scientists on one side, and them, the Jehovah-ites, on the other (SEE Sept. 25 post, "Keeping an Eye Glued On")

keeping AN EYE glued ON

Are you female, gay, non-Christian or (Goddess forbid) all three?  

If so, be smart and keep at least one eye glued always on the hard Christian Right, for they just can’t wait to crumble you into tiny bits.    

For your reading ease, I have snipped away all but the major meat of an article posted today in The Daily Beast called “The $1-Billion-a-Year Right-Wing Conspiracy You Haven’t Heard Of”:

I'm annoyed at the basic dishonesty of religio/political phenomena such as The Gathering that lay claim to the Christian tradition but ignore its underlying mandate of truth-telling.

WHY WE jilted OUR GODDESSES

BLAME IT on climate change.  

Goddesses began going extinct when the climate got hotter than blue blazes back around 4000 BC.  

It was called the “5.9 Kiloyear Event,” and it turned much of Mother Earth into a dry bone, killing off most of the earth’s early farming populations, whose religions had circled around goddesses. 

But 5.9 didn’t kill off everyone.  After crawling through generations-long starvation, a few groups morphed into looney-tunes cultures*.  

To these looney-tuners, Mother Earth had curled up and died, so the looneys turned to sky gods who controlled the spigots to the life-giving rains. 

Since these gods mostly turned the spigots to the “off” position, they felt mean as hell to the looney-tuners. 

Unfortunately, when food was plentiful again, looney-tunes culture didn’t fade away.  Like all cultures, it had been learned, shared and passed on from one generation to the next, until it just kept on going under its own steam.

Looney-tunes culture is a fear culture.  

Just like starving peoples, looney-tuners have a fear of things running out: food, stock prices, love -- whatever.  So both starving and looney-tunes peoples take things that don’t belong to them, i.e. do theft, rape, violence, war, and oil grabbing. 

Both starving and looney-tunes people overeat, abuse the weak (elderly, young, disabled), see the suffering of others as entertainment, and think slavery, poverty and social hierarchy are just peachy keen. 

If you live in a large state society anywhere in the world, you live in a looney-tunes culture.   

The solution?  Replace looney-tunes culture and its war gods with peaceful culture and peaceful deities.  When?  Yesterday!

pouring GAS ON ISIS

Mr. Obama, don’t pour gasoline on ISIS (the Middle East’s skanky Islamic State in Iraq and Syria).

Listen to the goddess Isis.  It’s no accident that she gave her name to a group as similar to her as honey is to bug-infested rump roast.

She’s trying to get your attention.  We need to turn ISIS back into Isis, a peaceful way of life centered around a Goddess who used to rule over large parts of the same land skanky ISIS is now riding over roughshod. 

There’s no way to bomb or “boots on the ground” these ISIS guys into giving up.  Boots and bombs will only make them dig in their heels.  Besides, they’re everywhere, so trying to bomb them off the planet would be like trying to bomb the sand off the earth:

“Jihadist groups are spread throughout Africa, the Middle East, and in parts of Asia. Some have connections to al-Qaeda, others do not. But they all share the common goal of creating an Islamist state through violence.”  

The sad fact is, Mr. Obama, as long as the world gives war religions the green light, we will have war.  Constantly.  And it’s only a matter of time before ISIS-type guys get their hands on nuclear, chemical, and germ weapons.

There is a solution:  Change their hearts and minds.  Eliminate the world’s warfare religions. 

The West could start by eliminating its own war religion, Christianity.  At the same time, all honest, intelligent and powerful citizens in Africa, the Middle East and Asia must work to persuade their Muslim citizens to give up Islam. 

But these religions must be replaced.  All human groups past and present have (or have had) religion -- this is just fact.  But we need peace religions.  We used to have them.  All revolved around peaceful goddesses and gods

If we don’t return to peace-goddesses, let’s at least be honest and admit humanity’s time is about up, and that we are condemning our children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren to lives of unimaginable pain, ugliness and sorrow. 

At least let’s be honest.
