THE ISSUE OF Evil

Ever hear of an English Goddess? Not Irish, not Welsh -- English. Well, if ya have, you’re one up on me! The author of a book I’m beginning says the Goddess of England was named “Sovereignty.” The book? Caitlin Matthews’ King Arthur and the Goddess of the Land. Here’s a snippet from it:

“In this volume my intention is to reveal the Goddess Herself in Her specific guise of Sovereignty [Goddess of the Land]. The Goddess of the Land and Her many representatives seem to me to stand at the very center of Arthurian legend. [T]he king ultimately derives his sovereignty from Her.” (p. xv)

In the realm of this Goddess, what was the source of evil? Sometimes it was merely a matter of the king marrying the wrong woman:

“Sometimes the forces of the land are out of alignment because the king’s wife is an unworthy representative of Sovereignty [i.e., the Goddess]…. Their marriage is not a true union and the land[/Goddess] reflects this imbalance by ailing in milk and grain.” (p. 17)

In other words, brutal, violent Goddesses are unnecessary. Other ways exist to explain evil. Violent Goddesses are inventions of a patriarchy wanting to weaken Goddess religion in general.

Pitching WAR OUT ON ITS EAR

Here's a jewel of a site: It’s about the world’s peaceful societies. You say you didn’t know there were any? Well then check it out, because this site makes it clearer than a crystal that humans are not born to make war. You have to craft people into warriors and destroyers, ‘cause they don’t just waltz into the world that way.

These guys have no war, no violence, no murder, no assault, no rape, no brutality, no gang war, no arson, no purse snatching, and no sneezing into someone else’s soup.

Wish I could tell you that none of this site’s 25 societies worship warrior gods. I’d eat my hat if the first 23 did, but the last two – the Amish and the Hutterites – worship Mr. Jehovah. THE GODDESS Loves US

In May, Turning Point Gallery in PA will be auctioning off original works by Susan Seddon-Boulet. This is a painting by Seddon-Boulet of the Goddess Selene, which I photographed from a copy I own. Although the person the Goddess holds and protects in her arms could be any of her children, man or a woman, Seddon-Boulet meant it to be the mortal Endymion, a man.

But remember – I can’t say it often enough – it’s not people who are at fault here. All of us are born lovable. It’s the systems sitting on top of our heads that’s the problem.

Christians Caused the Dark Ages? GET OUT!

BY POPULAR DEMAND: The “argument” that it was Christianity that pitched Europe into the Dark Ages:

“Western histories have put forth many theories about the fall of Rome and attributed the onset of the Dark Age to a wide variety of causes, except the one cause that may have had more to do with it than any other: Christianity. 1

“…Christians said one of the diabolic symptoms of the oncoming end of the world was ‘the spread of knowledge,’ which they endeavored to check with wholesale book burnings, destruction of libraries and schools, and opposition to education for laymen. 2 By the end of the 5th century, Christian rulers forcibly abolished the study of philosophy, mathematics, medicine, and geography. Lactantius said no Christian should study astronomy. Pope Gregory the Great denounced all secular education as folly and wickedness, and forbade Christian laymen to read even the Bible…. 3

“Pagan intellectuals and teachers were persecuted and schools were closed. Christian emperors commanded the burning of all books of the philosophers …. After years of vandalism and destruction, St. John Chrysostom proudly boasted, ‘Every trace of the old philosophy and literature of the ancient world has vanished from the face of the earth.’ 4

“…After temples were destroyed, monks and hermits were settled in the ruins to defile the site with their excrement, and to prevent reconstruction. 6

“Rulers melted down bronze, gold, and silver artworks for money. Peasants broke up marble gods and Goddesses and fed their pieces into limekilns for mortar. 7 It is recorded that 4th-century Rome had 424 temples, 304 shrines, 80 statues of deities in precious metal, 64 statues of ivory, 3,700 statues in bronze, and thousands in marble. By the next century, nearly all of them were gone…. 8

“Bertrand Russell described the philosophical outlook of St. Jerome: ‘He thinks the preservation of virginity more important than victory over the Huns and Vandals and Goths. Never once do his thoughts turn to any possible measure of practical statesmanship; never once does he point out the evils of the fiscal system, or of reliance on an army composed of barbarians. The same is true of Ambrose and Augustine…. It is no wonder that the Empire fell into ruin.’ 11

“Suppression of the teaching priestess or ‘alma mater’ led to an eclipse of education in general.

“Church historians have claimed nothing of real value was lost in the destruction of pagan culture. Modern scholars disagree. The havoc that afflicted art, science, literature, philosophy, engineering, architecture and all other fields of achievement has been likened to the havoc of the Gigantomachia – as if the crude giants overthrew the intelligent gods. The widespread literacy of the classical period disappeared. Aqueducts, harbors, buildings, even the splendid Roman roads fell into ruin. …. Centuries of devastating war could hardly have shattered Roman civilization as effectively as did its new obsession with an ascetic monotheism. 24

“…The study of medicine was forbidden, on the ground that all diseases were caused by demons…. 26

“Priestesses were especially persecuted, because they were female, wealthy, and laid claim to spiritual authority. 27

“By denying women’s spiritual significance and forbidding Goddess worship, the church [also] alienated both sexes from their pagan sense of unity with the divine through each other.

From my footnotes you can see I typed only about a quarter of Walker’s argument before my typing fingers fell asleep. I can’t recommend The Women’s Encyclopedia highly enough. And if possible, buy the hardcover – this is a thick book that doesn’t hold up well in a soft cover.

The DANGERS of DANISH Cartooning

Well, here’s thrilling news: The Taliban is contributing 100 kilos of gold to any dude able to off a Danish drawer of the Mohammed cartoons, and a Pakastani jewelers association has promised another $1,000,000.

“One of the 12 Danish cartoonists who drew the caricatures has told a German newspaper he now faces at least two death threats, saying all 12 cartoonists were under police protection.”

(“Son, forget about cartooning. Why not go into something safer -- like bronco busting or the demolition derby?”)

CHRISTIANS: Persecuted, OR PROSECUTED?

In a comment left on Feb. 9, Paxton raises an extremely important issue:

He says:

“I was under the impression that the original Christian converts were victims of torture, not perpetrators of it. Either you have a skewed understanding of ‘original’ or I have a skewed understanding of history.”

I’m afraid, Paxton, that the "skewing" belongs to you. The ancient Romans were notoriously nice to all religions. When early Christians began looting, rioting, burning, and violently barging in on the religious services of others, however, the Romans stepped in:

“Contrary to the conventional mythology, Christians were not persecuted under Roman law for being Christians, but for committing civil crimes. They caused riots, ‘often tumultuously interrupted the public worship, and continually railed against the public religion.’ They seemed to have been guilty of vandalism and arson. The Great Fire in 64 A.D. was set by Christians who were ‘anxiously waiting for the world to end by fire and who did at times start fires in order to prompt God…’ (Walker, The Women’s Encyclopedia, 1983: pp 209-210).

This is just a small taste of Walker’s mind-boggling essay on the barbarity of the early Christians. Her sources: Guy R. Phillips, Brigantia; J. de Voragine, The Golden Legend; Knight, Discourse on the Worship of Priapus; de Camp, The Ancient Engineers; and several others. Walker even goes so far as to suggest that, more than any other factor, it was Christianity that pulled Europe into the Dark Ages.

Paxton: Don’t feel bad -- you’re not alone. Most everyone has been hoodwinked. "History," afterall, is written by the conquerers.

feeling FRISKY

Well, minor surgery over with, and I’m back and feeling friskier than ever about the mission: gently replacing god the father with God the Mother by the year 2025.

I predict that over the next 19 years, the world will slowly begin to see the magnitude of the pain produced by the godFather religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism).

Both women and men will finally realize the horror, ugliness and illness these primitive warrior-god religions have spread around the globe. Mothers will wake up to the truth: allowing their children to dabble in these primitive religions will drag them into the perpetual war these so-called “religions” have kept alive for the past 6000 years.

The world will see with fresh eyes the silliness of the idea that life and love stem from divine maleness – and from maleness minus femaleness! “Ta dah! I give you: Jehovah, Yahweh, Vishnu and Allah! The miracle boys, who cook up life from human ribs!”

We’ll become entranced with that era 6000 years ago when female deity was the font of life -- and when war, poverty, social class and human degradation were unknown.

Hey, all you dynamite people: We need truth, love and justice. The warrior gods have had 6000 years to deliver the goods, and they’ve bombed. Please: look with fresh eyes at these primitive god-dudes, and tell me you see anything but silliness.

GOP Solicits Church Membership Directories... Again

The Interfaith Alliance is outraged: the North Carolina state Republican Party office is asking religious leaders for their church directories. The request was sent by email Thursday and several area pastors have already said they will not divulge their lists, citing inappropriate entanglement of partisan politics and religion. Read news article.

In response to this alarming news, Rev. Dr. Welton Gaddy, President of The Interfaith Alliance (TIA) and Pastor for Preaching and Worship at Northminster (Baptist) Church in Monroe, Louisiana, released the following statement:

“As the pastor of a local congregation, if I found out that my church membership directory was shared with a campaign or political party, I would begin immediate legal action against the campaign or political party. It's a serious mistake to consider worshipers in religious institutions as just another bloc of voters like farmers, labor unions, and corporate executives.

“Collecting church directories intrudes on the integrity of houses of worship and compromises them by classifying them as political organizing tools. I am fearful that initiatives like this by any of the political parties will lure religious organizations and religious leaders into dangerous, unconstitutional territory. Even worse, proponents of such list-gathering are leading religious leaders into the temptation of forfeiting the prophetic voice of religion.

“Furthermore, the national GOP says the collection of church directories is for voter registration efforts. No one bought that defense during the 2004 elections and we won’t buy it in 2006 either. The role of religion and values in the 2004 election was that of a political strategy employed to achieve a political goal – winning an election – [and] there is no reason to believe that has ... changed.”

The Interfaith Alliance's national office will continue to monitor this issue and we request you - our members -to be vigilant about political parties in your home state engaging in similar unconstitutional practices. I think we Goddess followers (at least those of us trying to go beyond weaving flowers in our hair) could profit by listening to black women. FAITH: Solution TO CONFUSION

“Faith” is what you grab onto when you don’t really have a deity worth its salt. Faith is especially important when your religion is slapped together and makes little sense. Example: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The Father roars, “Kill and make war!” while the son whispers, “Love and be poor.” (The Ghost is mum). The result? General confusion. Whaddya go with – killing or loving?!? And who’s the Ghost, anyway? At this point, “faith” gets invented. Definition of “faith”: “Sit down, shut up, do as you’re told, or god will hurt you.”

Real religion can be seen and felt. No one needs “faith” in the green wingback chair sitting in your living room. It’s there, and you know it. It makes sense. Likewise, Goddess worshippers don’t need faith, since the Goddess too can be seen, touched, and heard. She’s the trees behind your house. She’s the wind rippling through the trees. She’s the brown earth, the hills, the green plants sprouting in spring. She’s you when you look in a mirror. She’s logical: she’s the Female source of all life. She says “Love others as all good mothers love their children.”

When our kids are born is when we run to the shelf and pull down “faith.” When our children say, “But Daddy, why didn’t Eve get born from a mommy? You said everything gets born from a mommy,” we need Faith.

When the dear darlings say “Hows cum god says fight wars but Jesus says have peace? Who’s right?” you need Faith.

One falls back on faith at “Mommy, hows cum god says to stone people to death? (Lev. 20 et al.)” or “Hows cum god turned her into a pillar of salt? You said he loves everybody!” or “Hows cum everybody in the Bible is a boy? Doesn’t god love girls?” or “Why did god set fire to people?” (Gen. 38:24; Lev. 20: 14) or “Why did god tell that daddy to burn his little boy?” or “But, but – how did Cain get married, ‘cuz where did the girl come from?” or “God lied! He said Adam would die if he ate the apple, and Adam didn’t die!” or “But, but, but – you just read that god made the plants first! And now here it says the people came first and then the plants! (Gen. 1 vs. Gen. 2)”

When you can’t see, feel or hear a deity, that’s bad enough. But when the deity also defies logic -- that’s a crime. But, hey. When you use torture to get anyone to “join” your “religion” (which is how Christianity and Islam originally bagged virtually ALL converts), who needs logic?

Nevertheless, “faith” helps. “Why? Because I said so! Shut up, and do as you’re told, or god will hurt you!”

The GodFather SPEAKS

Please show THIS SITE to everyone you know who's thinking about becoming muslim.

Tell them to watch the live videos of two people being stoned to death (for adultery) and of the man having a hand and foot cut off (for stealing). Both the stoners and the cutters are following instructions directly from muhammed and the quran. I don’t have much to say. My head's swimming in a pool of shocked, sickened sadness.

I will say this, however: the Danish cartoons (see yesterday's post) of muhammed now feel too mealy-mouthed. They almost beautify a "religion" that is damnably, monstrously evil. But as I've said time and time again, Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism are not religions. They are political control mechanisms masquerading as religions. These videos give you an insider's view of how that control is achieved. This is how the Goddess and Her religion was wrenched away from us. And these are only a few of the milder techniques used.

THE GODDESS LOOKS AT Freedom of Speech

The deal is some Danish dude printed some cartoons of Muhammed in his newspaper, and the Islamic world is going nuts. Danish flags are being burned, and Europeans in Muslim countries are being threatened and beaten up. So the dude apologized. Now there’s a huge debate: are Muslims now telling the rest of the world what we can and can’t say?

Hauntingly, before Andrea Yates murdered her five kids, she’d suffered harrassment for nine years at the hands of one Michael Woroniecki, a Christian minister/monster who “…taught that it was better for parents to commit suicide than cause their offspring to stumble and go to hell. Only two months after receiving ... harsh letters from the Woronieckis, Andrea was hospitalized twice for two separate suicide attempts.”

Woroniecki also ordered men to saddle women and ride them like horses, pumping as many sperm into them “as nature allows.” Accordingly, Andrea’s hubby rode to orders, even though her psychiatrist warned him that having more children would "guarantee future psychotic depression" for his wife.

In addition to Andrea, this Christian animal Woroniecki almost bled others to death as well: “Several ex-disciples claim to have become depressed or anxious to the point of contemplating or attempting suicide.”

Is Woroniecki crazy? No. Horrifyingly, everything he says and does is solidly backed by doctrine that's 100% accepted by our society.

But here’s what’s most dangerous: moderate Christians say, “Oh, well. That’s not us. We’re good.”

No. Hunh, uhn. Slap yourselves and wake up, dudes. Your bible is poison. To one degree or another, it sickens everyone who touches it. Many, like Andrea Yates and Michael Woroniecki, are damaged beyond recognition. But your “holy” book shoots torture, sin, ugliness and war into the heads of anyone who reads it, like arrows into tree bark. The roadmap to Supreme Ugliness is right there in your little biblical book of horrors, outlined in black and white, for any and all to read and follow.

Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Christians

Or Muslims, or Jewish, or Hindu. Unless, of course, you want your babies to grow up and die at 18. Think about it, moms. It’s Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah and Vishnu who are behind all the wars on the planet. They’re even known as “warrior gods”! They’re smart, though. They have their little ways. They’ve managed to convince the mothers of the world that they’re not who they really are.

But don’t you be fooled! If you let them, these guys will snap up your babies in a heartbeat and stuff ‘em into uniform. But don’t you let them. Here’s how: From the start, whisper in your baby’s ear that the warrior gods Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah, and Vishnu are evil. Begin early. Whisper often. Everyday, in fact. A better deity for your baby is the Mother Goddess, who teaches us all to behave in the ways healthy Mothers do toward their babies. Teach your babies to love everyone in the world the way you love them, and maybe then they won’t have to die in a war.

KING ARTHUR & THE Goddess

When it comes to King Arthur, almost all we know comes from old Christian writers -- who hid the real Arthur under layers of Christian flim-flam.

Could Arthur actually have been an ancient god? According to Barbara Walker, yes. Originally, says Walker, Arthur was an old Pagan god, and both his mother and Guinivere were aspects of the Triple Goddess. “When Arthur died, the same Triple Goddess that gave him birth took him back into the sea. ‘Three fairy queens’ carried him away to the western isles of paradise…”.

Superior WOMEN

Recently, Chuck P. sent me the following:

"I believe that soon the world will prevail on enlightened women to take over the ruling roles before men of violence bring about total annihilation with their barbaric policies.

"More and more, countries run by madmen like Yong Il in North Korea and Khomeini in Iran add to the threat of all out nuclear war.

"The historical patriarchal system is obsolete and unable to avert disaster, and matriarchy is the only hope for humanity.

"We need enlightened superior women to return sanity to government before it is too late."

Slippery Slope?

Apparently, our ski resorts here in Maine aren't the only places with slippery slopes. Here's one in the making, and it slopes toward religious totalitarianism:

"Some members of Congress and the Bush administration are campaigning to allow taxpayer funds to be used for religious discrimination. The so-called 'faith-based initiatives,' otherwise known as 'charitable choice,' seek to grant religious social service providers – who have long provided admirable and essential services to America's communities – the right to discriminate, proselytize and play by different rules than other charities while spending tax dollars. If these efforts are successful, social workers, psychologists, counselors, teachers, and others seeking to work in tax-funded social service programs could be denied jobs solely because of their faith."
