This weblog is dedicated to the Goddess and to saving the planet -- by gently replacing God the Father with God the Mother by the year 2035. Too simplistic? Nope, I don't think so. Female deities are role models for unconditional love. Violent sky/war gods are dangerous, to men as well as women. People are biologically programmed to need religion of one kind or another. (BTW, "thea"=Goddess, "theo"=god)

YOUR Fave MALE GODS
Who are your fave male gods?
If you were on a sinking ship and could save only five gods, who would they be? ___________ thnx to j. kunst for the foto of Triton; go HERE to see more.
If you were designing a new world religion, to be followed by the people in every society around the globe, what would you tell men who don't want to give up their male/sky/war gods?
What would I tell the men? I don't think I would tell them anything, really, just let them whinge and throw their toys out of the pram until they got tired and went back to sleep. They would soon come around to seeing how much better the world was without their Gods (hopefully). xx
I think I would pick Dionysos, though even He was a rapist if you find the right myth; Geb, the ancient Egyptian Earth-God who cried and cried when He was (forcefully) separated from His beloved Nut, the Sky-Goddess and His sister/lover; beyond that? I'm having a Hel of a time coming up with Gods Who qualify as kind and with a clue. Oh dear. I'd like to think there's more hope than that!
thalia, ya know what? I think the war/sky/daddy gods did the same number on the good old male gods that they did on the Great Mother and other goddesses.
Yeah, I agree. I was wondering as I was writing that comment Who was the closest to the Old European Mourning God (if I'm remembering His name correctly from my Gimbutas). I don't know much about Cretan Zeus, but that name was coming up.
That's a good question. I don't know that much about the gods myself, but I can't think of one ancient Greek god who mourns.
My assumption with Cretan Zeus is that he was brought over to Crete by the Indo-European, patriarchal Mycenaeans and foisted on the Minoans. In all ways, the ancient Greek Zeus looks and smells just like the low-life proto Indo-European Dieus, the dud-god who incested his daughter Usas, goddess of the dawn.
1: Hermes son of Maia who speeds across Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld. Hail Wayfinder!
2:Dionysos God of Wine, Liberation, Myteries. He who rescued Ariadne from isolation and death, and rescued even his own Mother going to Hades and taking her from the Underworld!
3:Anubis the Jackal-Headed.
4:Apollo who flies across the skies with his Sister.

I would let them all drown!
I hear you, Debi!

I'd vote for Dionysus and Apollo, the Horned God and the Green Man.
