WONDER WOMAN: GODDESS in disguise

All this nonsense about Wonder Woman being an Amazon warrior princess -- it was just to disguise her real identity, the Mother Goddess of Us All, who fights evil “not with fists or firepower, but with love.”

Why?  To keep us, her brood of babies, as safe as safe can be.

And the Mother Goddess thought she could pull the wool over our eyes!

Ha!  We knew all along who you really were, WW!  And we absolutely adore you, like children always adore their mothers (especially if Mother is a loving, healthy human being).

BTW, it was Elizabeth Marston who brought us the Mother Goddess Wonder Woman:  Elizabeth's husband William Moulton Marston, "a psychologist already famous for inventing the polygraph (forerunner to the magic lasso), struck upon an idea for a new kind of superhero, one who would triumph not with fists or firepower, but with love. ‘Fine,’ said Elizabeth. ‘But make her a woman.’"

One of The Most Important Books I Have Ever Read.

A review by Sapphire19:

I am not exaggerating by saying Switching to Goddess is one of the most important books I have ever read. It traces the Goddess as She has been worshipped throughout human history - and deftly illustrates the enormous ramifications for societies that follow Her guidance versus those that have been shaped by beliefs in patriarchal, hierarchical gods. The author, J. Lyn Studebaker, brings to life a deity that is a warm, loving, healthy, all-embracing, compassionate Mother Goddess, a stark contrast to not only the war-gods but even the war-goddesses of ancient and modern civilizations.
SNIP
I loved Studebaker's style of writing - well researched and informative, yet also fun and irreverent.
SNIP
Best of all is the hope that lies throughout the book, especially at the end as Studebaker illustrates how the Goddess has never really left and has been brought down to us through ancient and modern times under various guises (including Jesus's mother, Mary)....

SWITCH OR die, WHAT’LL IT BE?

If humanity doesn’t switch back to its old mother goddesses soon, it will lolligag on down the road after the dinosaurs to extinction.

Today the world falls on its knees in front of war gods: Jehovah, Allah, Yahweh, Indra, Odin (Wodan), Mars, Ares.  When they worshiped gods, China and Japan too worshipped war gods: Huangdi and Hachiman.

When you worship war gods, you do war.

Something called Starvation Culture gave rise to the first institutionalized war and war deities.  When the deserts of North Africa and Central Asia formed ca 4000 BC, many of the world’s first farmers starved to death.  A new way of life sprang up, one based on fear of never having enough – food, water, women, love, pocket change -- whatever.

The result?  The birth of institutionalized taking-behavior: stealing, warring, raping, enslaving – these are all the same thing: taking what doesn’t belong to you, out of a subconscious, irrational fear of never having enough.

The fix?  Sacking Starvation Culture and its deities.  Coming home to deities pushing Love Culture, which says ya treat everyone the way healthy mothers treat their kids.

HOW TO fix EVERYTHING

When the world weans itself off war gods, and lines up again with Goddesses (ones who love us like healthy mothers love their children), all will be happy and healthy again.

BABY, BABY, get down ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY

Ian Hodder, the archaeologist who broke all the rules by grabbing excavating money from big corporations (Shell & Boeing, two of the biggest on the planet), wants us to believe there’s no such thing as female figurines at the 8000 year-old site Catalhoyuk -- where some of the most magnificent and spine-tingling female figurines ever found, have indeed been found.

I give you two, here.

Mr. Hodder’s latest statement on female figurines: “...less than 3% of our entire corpus of figurines could be considered female....  As recent analysis shows, many of the corpulent examples often assumed to be “female” show no primary sexual characteristics.”*

First, I’m wondering why Mr. Hodder stuffed the word “female” between quote marks?  Is he afraid of getting bugs from the word?  Is Mr. Hodder afraid of women?

Second, why won’t Mr. Hodder show what female figurines do come from Catal Huyuk?

Go HERE and look through his 343 photos.

Do you see any female figurines?

I don’t.

My guess?  These goddesses don’t embarrass Mr. Hodder -- they embarrass his corporate masters.

There’s a reason archaeologists don’t take money from Sugar Daddies, Mr. Hodder.  Do your Shell and Boeing daddies make you kiss their toes at night before you go to bed -- hmmmm?

Repent, Mr. Hodder, repent before it’s too late.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire archaeology community booted you out of their club.  We're not sure we can trust you anymore.

The “Lion Man”: Really a Goddess?

The foot-high “Lion Man,” carved from mammoth ivory 40,000 years ago and hastily excavated from a German cave in 1939 (the archaeologist was in a rush -- WWII was about to begin): could he be a she?  Some think maybe:

“The prehistorian Elizabeth Schmid assumed that the figure once had breasts and notes that the transition from the thighs to the buttocks indicate a woman's body.

SNIP
“[N]ew findings may finally solve the problem. Hundreds of fragments of ivory remain to be put together. There are many fragments apparently from the genital area, which prompted the excavator to pronounce 'We will find out the sex of the figurine'.
Go HERE for good pictures, but HERE for good information (the first site got the date of discovery wrong).

SAINTS, bones AND HOLY STONES

Fun snippets from a recent (and somewhat irreverent) talk by Maine poet and environmental activist Gary Lawless.  Topic: “Holy Relics."

Maine poet Gary Lawless
“The most powerful relics are those associated with Jesus  ... his hair, his breath, and, because he was Jewish, there is the relic foreskin....  There is a wonderful painting from the Renaissance of Jesus ascending bodily into heaven, and in a lower corner of the painting there is a foreskin with wings, flying up as well. (One early pope was quoted as saying that this miracle was necessary because they couldn't have Jesus in Heaven with a Jewish penis).”

SNIP

“Saints were connected individually with specific kinds of healing or miraculous powers. (For instance, if you had speech problems you could go to Padua, Italy, to the relic of St. Anthony's jaw and tongue).”

SNIP

“Relics were relocated from neighboring towns when priests would have dreams of the saints telling the dreamer that they were not being treated with enough respect at their present locations...".

SNIP

“In 1204 the Crusaders sacked Constantinople and made off with a rich and diverse collection of relics, including blood of Jesus, pieces of the True Cross, thorns from the crown of thorns, milk of the Virgin Mary, hair and cloth from Mary, parts of the skull, teeth and fingers of John the Baptist, and Old Testament relics of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

SNIP

“There was of course pushback to relic worship from other branches of Christianity. Here is John Calvin, from his ‘Treatise On Relics’:

‘The desire for relics is never without superstition, and what is worse, is usually the parent of idolatry.  If we were to collect all of these pieces of the True Cross exhibited in various parts, they would form a whole ship's cargo.  With regard to the milk (of Mary) there is not perhaps a town, a convent, or a nunnery where it is not shown in large or small quantities. Indeed, had the Virgin been a wet nurse her whole life, or a dairy, she could not have produced more than is shown as hers in various parts....’”

Read the whole presentation HERE.

Gary ends by saying today’s Holy Relics include the blood, bone and skin of animal species going extinct, among other parts of Mother Earth that are slowly disappearing.

IMHO Gary would make a fine member of the feminist spirituality community.
