PEACEFUL Protests

We need to march outside all War-God churches, colleges, seminaries and other institutions. What would our signs say? “Mothers, Protect Your Babies from War Gods.” “Jehovah Admits he’s a Warrior: Exod. 15:3.” “To Stop War, Stop War Gods.” “Christianity’s a Cult, Not a Religion.” “Christians Kill.” “Protect Yourself from Christianity.” “Abolish War Gods, Abolish War.” “The Bible Contains ’Warrior’ and ‘War’ 300 Times.” Similarly for Vishnu’s and Yahweh’s temples and Allah's mosques.

  2. You mean the war goddesses created by the War Gods?

Well, just to start the process, how about The Morrigan and Kali?

One who is unwilling to fight when necessary cedes power to those who are. While I don't think that the war in Iraq is necessary, I'm familiar enough with human nature to know that wars will not go away while humans are at this level of advancement. I am a pacifist, but a well-armed one.

  4. Okay. The Morrigan are goddesses of the "aristocratic warrior culture" that routed the people who lived in Europe before them. Same with Kali. Both the Celts and the Hindus are warrior cultures. The Great Mother Earth deity who existed before these war-like Indo-Europeans hit would never do the kinds of things the Morrigan and Kali do. Like any healthy mother, the Great Mother would engage in violence only to protect one of Her children against another, and only with great sadness in Her heart that She might need to hurt the aggressor child.

Of course "wars will never go away while humans are at this level" of seduction by Daddy War Lords. That is the entire point of this blog. What you don't seem to understand, anon, is that human social evolution is not a straight line from low to high. We're incredibly backward and barbaric compared to our Neolithic Great-Mother focused ancestors of about 10,000 to about 3000 BC.

I have to admit, though, that now that we've let the Daddy gods get so out of hand I'm not certain what to do to stop them. They're threatening human survival now like never before. "One who is unwilling to fight when necessary cedes power to those who are." I don't mind ceding power. I do mind the annihilation of the human race.

You know...I'd try to respond further, but all I get from that response is if I say anything else, all I'm going to hear is the same stuff all over again. Gods are evil, goddesses are good (except now for the war goddesses spawned of the war gods of course. Oh, and all gods are war gods, right?)

I'll stick with worshipping both gods and goddesses.

I'm curious though, as to just where you are trying to replace gods the father with god the mother by 2025...the US, the entire world?

    One more question...

What do you do when faced with folks trying to proselytize to you? Seriously, what do you say to them, how do you react?

  7. Dear anon, No, not all gods are war gods. And certainly not all gods are evil. And the War Goddesses aren't good. Originally they were, but my belief is that they're distorted versions of that aspect of the Great Mother Earth Goddess that grows incredibly in energy and power when any of us, Her children, are threatened.

The Daddy War Gods need to be replaced multilaterally across the world. It's no good replacing one without the others. Of course if we could weaken Jehovah some, it would help calm down Allah.

    Read the blog.

Few Christians proselytize to me. I don't typically mingle with Christians. The last time I was pros'd to was by my sister, who asked me to attend her megachurch. I told her I would, but that I would "write about it." I attended, I wrote about it, and my sister was not happy. But, then, I'm not overjoyed that she's a Christian, much less attending a megachurch.

Oh yeah, because women are never, ever violent.

  11. Okay, anon, you little ever-present rascal you. I have no idea what you're referring to. Of course there are women who are violent. Who said there weren't? But there are entire societies in which women aren't violent, and in which men aren't violent. Go check out peacefulsocieties.org.

  12. It always amazes me that people go the most exclusivist extreme when we talk about the Goddess. They're so stuck in their black and white thinking that they project it onto Goddess worshippers. We don't think that way. Goddess being good doesn't mean men are bad - it's not the opposite of patriarchy, where "god" is "good" and everyone else is a myth or a demon and women are inferior.

I made a statement once that because the human race is 54% female, the race is female. That's a simple, statistical reality based on that number. In any other context it wouldn't be challenged. I had a reader respond "oh really - the human race is female exclusive of the male - can you prove that?" Where did I say "exclusive of the male?" I didn't, but he was trained to hear it that way.

Liberals, especially Pagans, are so fearful of gender bias that they can't embrace a Goddess without a god or give positive attributes to Her without negative ones. This "50-50" thinking is a huge problem among Pagans. Polarity is dangerous and creates conflict. Nature always prefers Her own gender. There are always more females than males in a species, and if there's only one gender, as with some lizards and other animals, those individuals are female. Males are newer adaptations, just as 'gods' are newer than Goddess. That's not a put-down, it's just a chronology.

For what it's worth, Kali isn't exactly a war goddess, unless you include the war on the asuras (demons) -- which is different than, say, a war on living beings. She's associated with death and devouring time (to which we are all subject, no matter how we kick it); she destroys illusions. Her role in Hinduism is complex, and war isn't a part of it.

  14. So many Goddesses were turned into evil demons by conquering hoardes. The simple truth is that you have to clear a field before you can plow it, cut down a tree to build a house with it. A Witch who cannot hex cannot heal because the pain, illness, malady whatever has to be killed or destroyed. When we eat, something dies so we can live, even if that something is a head of lettuce or the grain to make bread. You can divide the world into good and evil if you insist, but it's a lot easier to let things be whole and complex and our experience of it becomes much richer.
