“(Indianapolis, Indiana) Legislation has been introduced in the Indiana legislature that would prohibit gays, lesbians and single people in Indiana from using medical science to assist them in having a child.[Snip]
“Among the determining factors is a requirement that the women be married to a person of the opposite sex. The assessment would contain a description of the family lifestyle and automatically exclude lesbians. Women would also have to provide proof that they have participated in faith-based or church activities. [and what kind of faith do you suppose that might be?]MORE >>>
Oh, goodie! Now that we all get to decide who can get pregnant, let’s pass these laws:
O Anyone wanting to get pregnant hasta pass six years of classes on child rearing.
O No more than two kids for anyone.
O No kids for child molesters, rapists, or wife batterers.
O No kids for people in religions causing murder, suicide and STDs (see my 9-28 post showing jaw-dropping correlations between god-religion and murder, suicide & STDs).
O No one with an IQ under 120 may have babies (half the population must have IQs under 80, since they voted for George Bush; if future babies had IQs of 120+, we might be able to drag the average IQ back up to 100 -- eventually).
What in the world...? That has got to be the most dim-minded, idiotic, downright hateful legislation I have heard about in a while (and I have heard some really stupid laws). Where do some people (a.k.a. christians) get it in their head that they...? ARRRRGH!
ReplyDeleteI suppose I should turn my half-breed atheist-spawned daughter over to them hateful christians so they can stone the abomination to death. Is that what they want? Am I a bad father because I'm atheist? Does my desire for my daughter to also be atheist put her spiritual health at risk?
I can see it coming. "You're under arrest for child endangerment. You don't take her to church on Sundays." or "You're under arrest for accessory to murder. You didn't take your child to church and now she's a murderer. You unleashed a menace on society."
My daughter can make her own decision and I will stand behind her, even if she became a *shudder* fundamentalist christian.
If only they could get their heads out of their sanctamonious butts for two seconds, maybe they would realize what asses they've been.
When it really comes down to it, it's not a christian issue, or an islamic issue, or jewish, or god-figure, or any other religious issue. Those are just the tools used by ignorant frightened people with a total lack of compassion, a diminished world-view and the tiny dick to go with it.
Everything you've said is right on, LH, but if the so-called "christo-fascists" have their way, it won't matter. If they take over this country (as some fear they're trying to do), then we'll do as they say -- or pay the price.
ReplyDeleteThe J. of Rel. & Soc. study strongly suggests that god worship is a serious, life-threatening illness. Perhaps it's time for us to start passing laws to punish those who knowingly spread it around.
I am confident that the Republican-constituted Supreme Court will do its plug-ugly worst to lesbians. But, excuse me? What are they going to do with pregnant lesbians? Force them to abort?
ReplyDeleteAnyone with a man, a jar of Vaseline, and an applicator tube (like the ones that come with diaphragm cream) can get pregnant.
PS - You still couldn't pay me to live in Indiana.
Not to worry, anne. I'm sure the soon-to-be Born-Again Supreme Court will find it in their hearts to allow for one exception to their strict anti-abortion laws: court-enforced lesbian abortions. (I hear Ms. Meiers became a Born-Again around '79 or '80.)
