Goddess Wisdom from Paul McCartney
~*Let it Be*~
"When the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer,
Let it be, let it be."
“Let it Be” …begins with Paul [McCartney] saying [that] when he finds himself in times of trouble, "Mother Mary" comes to him. I had always thought that Mary meant the virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. But Paul's mother was also named Mary, and she died when he was a young boy.
In the song Mary comes like an angel whispering to him these wise words-- let it be. "Let it be" means let go, relax, don't worry about your troubles…. [don’t] think about sad things too much, … accept … bad things … that [you] cannot change.
But this is not the only message in Paul's song… MORE>>>
Oh my goodness, I thought it meant the virgin Mary too! Oh man, I remember when I was little, this song meant SO much to me because of that...
ReplyDeleteMy own feeling is that he meant *both* Mary the Goddess (whittled down by the god boys, of course) and his own mother. The song has more than one double meaning tucked away here and there.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of it as looking at the Goddess, but when I read it now and think of the song it makes perfect sense. Thank you for sharing that, and for reminding me of one of my favorite songs as I was growing up
